General Information
A Permit is required for the install of Generator. The building requirements adopted by the City for 2018 International Residential Code, 2018 Fuel & Gas Code, 2018 International Mechanical Code, 2020 NEC- National Electrical Code, and Noise Ordinance.
Submittal Requirements

Required documents
- Generator and Transfer Equipment Specification
- Electrical Drawings
- Plumbing Plans
- Load Analysis
- Master Plumber License
- Master Electrician License
- Site Plan/Survey – Official site plan of the location of the generator
Inspection Requirements
An inspection request must be scheduled through My Government Online and performed by the City of Mont Belvieu for each task listed below:
- Foundation Pre-Pour Inspection
- All rebar is in and lifted off the ground with no vegetation.
- Electric Meter Release
- The electrical work is completed and in compliance with the code(s) listed above.
- Gas Meter Release
- Gas plumbing needs to be pressurized with the gauge on it, for testing.

- then press 5 for a new inspection.
All Inspection requests placed before 8:00 a.m. Monday through Friday will have a same-day inspection.
