Our partners at TxDOT have given us some information to share with you regarding the interchange flip at I-10 and Eagle Dr. (FM 3180). The next phase of the project begins with the demolition of the existing Eagle Dr. bridge over I-10, which is scheduled to begin on May 29. Once the bridge has been destroyed, direct North-South travel across I-10 at this intersection will not be possible until at least late July. This will require motorists to use the new u-turn flip at FM 565 and the intersection at Grand Parkway/Toll 99 to access the opposite sides of FM 3180.
To help residents understand how this plan will unfold over the next few months, TxDOT has provided maps and a timeline that will outline the project; a link to the PDF can be found below. The project managers hope to have temporary connectivity on Eagle Dr. underneath the new I-10 overpass established by late July to early August - just in time for Barbers Hill ISD to begin the school year.
This will be a difficult time for our community. The City asks everyone to be courteous and patient as you travel through this area. Once the phases scheduled for completion during the summer months are complete, we will be well on our way to some great - and safer - new roadways.
